The South End Community Health Center is a full service health center providing adult and family medicine, pediatrics, OB-GYN, dental, eye care and WIC services to 22,000 patients accounting for nearly 8o,000 visits annually.
The South End Community Health Center is a board governed non-profit, comprehensive health care organization for all residents of the South End and the surrounding communities. We are committed to providing the highest quality, culturally and linguistically sensitive, coordinated health care and social services to every patient, regardless of their ability to pay.
Founded in 1969 by a renowned pediatrician, Dr. Gerald Hass, and neighborhood activists, the South End Community Health Center provides adult and family medicine, pediatrics, behavioral health, dental and eye care, as well as women’s health. Our health services are culturally and linguistically sensitive, and after 46 years the Health Center is widely recognized for its outstanding, high-quality, and preventive care provided to all members of our community, regardless of their race, ethnicity, gender, sex, sexual orientation, physical ability, and/or income.
In 2012, we opened the Dr. Gerald Hass Center, the first full-time school-based health center in Boston, which offers medical, behavioral and dental services to the community and nearly 600 students of the Blackstone Innovation Elementary School.
The Health Center is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) and our dedicated multicultural and multilingual staff serves over 22,000 patients accounting for 75,000 visits annually.
