Welcome Dr. Sweder

Pediatrics Welcomes Dr. Justin Sweder!

Dr. Justin Sweder recently returned to the east coast from the Bay Area to join SECHC as the newest member of our pediatric practice after 15 years away. During that time he earned his medical degree at George Washington University in Washington, DC and completed his residency at the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital in Oakland in 2005.

Dr. Sweder has a particular interest in developmental pediatrics and has a B.A. in psychology from Yale. He has worked with children with developmental delays and autism. He also enjoys teaching medical residents and in 2010 was awarded the “House Staff Teaching Award” by Children’s Hospital Oakland for “unmatched dedication to resident education and excellence, and tireless enthusiasm.”

He speaks Spanish and knows a little American Sign Language: “Helping children and their families to improve communication – so that they can form the best possible relationship with each other – is one thing that I love most about being a pediatrician.” says Dr. Sweder.
