The Women’s Health department provides high quality, sensitive, and confidential care for a diverse community of female patients across the gender spectrum, from adolescence to advanced age.The department’s team of providers is made up of OBGYN physicians, midwives, and nurse practitioners. Our staff includes registered nurses, medical assistants, a family planning counselor, and a case manager. We are committed to providing comprehensive wellness care and intervention for a variety of conditions, and empower our patients with the tools they need to reach their health goals.
Our comprehensive women’s health services include the following:
- Annual wellness exams
- Pregnancy care
- Pap smears/cervical cancer screening
- Pregnancy testing
- Vaginal & urinary tract infections
- Family planning & preconception care
- STD & HIV testing, prevention, and treatment
- Contraception including Nexplanon and IUDs
- Abnormal pap smear diagnosis and management (colposcopy)
- Menstrual issues
- Menopause care
- Basic infertility services
- Breast concerns & breast cancer screening
- Immunizations including HPV, hepatitis B, and flu
Additionally, our OBGYN physicians can perform surgical procedures offsite, including but not limited to tubal ligation, Essure placement, hysteroscopy, and minimally invasive surgery to manage a number of gynecological conditions.
Pregnant patients who receive their care from us can choose either a certified nurse midwife or an OBGYN physician, and have the option to deliver at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston Medical Center, or Tufts Medical Center. Our case manager assists pregnant patients and their families with their needs, and our registered dietician offers personalized nutrition support to help achieve optimal pregnancy outcomes. We screen for postpartum depression and connect patients with our mental health providers for counseling and support whenever needed.
As part of your holistic care, we collaborate with a variety of specialists and programs within our health center, including mental health, adult and family medicine, podiatry, addiction care, infectious disease, nutrition, case management, and eye care. Whenever needed, we provide referrals for specialists at the hospital of your choice.
Our department director, Bennett Lareau-Meredith NP, offers both gynecologic and primary care, and has a special interest in caring for LGBTQ patients. Bennett provides care for all adult patients including transgender patients of any gender identity.
